Rooisand Desert Ranch, a guest farm of some 12.000 ha, is situated on the fringe of the Namib Desert, halfway between Windhoek and the Atlantic coast.
Surrounded by the magnificent scenery of red sand dunes - deposited in distant times by winds from the Kalahari Desert - vast grasslands and rugged mountains, Rooisand affords its guests a relaxing sojourn with every convenience, plus a state-of-the-art observatory.
Guest accommodation, the main building with the kitchen and farm management quarters, technical buildings, the pool, fitness centre and the tennis courts are all located in the central farm area. Rooisand’s kitchen serves a substantial buffet breakfast, a light lunch, afternoon tea and scrumptious dinners. Special dietary requirements can also be accommodated.
There are five well-appointed en suite double rooms and four en suite single rooms with all the conveniences, including minibar and cordless phone, and beautiful views of the gardens.
A fully equipped and very comfortably furnished chalet with two en suite double bedrooms, a large lounge, kitchen and a sundeck with a fireplace is situated about 2.5 km from the main farmhouse. The chalet, right next to the observatory, also boasts satellite TV, wireless LAN internet access and truly breathtaking views of the beautiful scenery.
A wide range of activities, from stargazing to rock-climbing and hiking, from bird watching to game drives and mineralogical excursions, guarantees a truly memorable holiday at the foot of Gamsberg Mountain.
